LONDON: 4 November 2010
The UK Film Council is offering a British film director from a traditionally under-represented community in the UK, the opportunity to take part in the renowned Tribeca All Access programme in 2011.
Tribeca All Access is a year-long programme of practical help and support for filmmakers. It helps directors to get their projects off the ground and give them a platform for their work through advice, access to filmmaking equipment, promotional support, networking opportunities and crucially, exposure to potential funders.
Mary FitzPatrick, Head of Diversity at the UK Film Council said: "This is a great opportunity for a UK director to get their project up and running and funded with follow-up support and advice throughout the year. Crucially it also gives them access to a network of contacts in the international film world for future projects."
Run by the Tribeca Film Institute, the programme kicks off at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York with five intensive days of networking (25-29 April 2011), relationship building, panels, and meetings with senior film industry executives.
Participants also receive support throughout the year through the TAA On Track programme which includes the use of digital filmmaking and editing equipment for films shot in the US, promotional support for completed films, Tribeca Film Institute hosted presentation screenings and educational panels and workshops.
The UK Film Council's Diversity department sponsorship will include one fully paid place on the All Access programme, filmmaker accreditation to the Tribeca Film Festival, as well as flight and accommodation costs for the five days.
This opportunity is open to both first-time and established narrative and documentary filmmakers who come from traditionally under-represented communities. They must be seeking funding and exposure for a new feature length film project. The film may be of any subject matter, genre, or budget range and suited for independent or major studio production.
The deadline for applications is 8 December 2010 and applicants are required to apply with either a completed feature-length screenplay for their narrative film project or a thorough proposal for their documentary project.
For the full application guidelines, please go to: www.ukfilmcouncil.org.uk/media/pdf/g/3/TAA_application_guidelines_2011.pdf
The UK Film Council will shortlist three filmmakers and the Tribeca Film Institute will then make the final decision on the successful applicant by 11 March 2011.
